Christina returned at about 2:30 in the afternoon. Her shift for today was over and she was pretty tired already.
- “What have you two been up to then?” she asked the guys.
- “Just watching random movies.” Pete said.
- “I’ve been thinking and I reckon we need to find out as much as we can about the accident.” Vince said.
- “But no-one will tell us the truth. I bet president and his people already know it all, but they won’t tell it to the public.” Christina said.
- “I know, but we need to find someone who we can interrogate and eventually squeeze the truth out of.”
- “Hmm… I think I know of someone who has some useful knowledge.”
- “And who would that be?”
- “Cid. That same shopkeeper that was rude to us yesterday.”
- “How would he know?”
- “He has friends high-up. I just know it; you’ve got to trust me.”
- “I do. In that case let’s head there now and find out.”
- “Do you two need me?” Pete asked.
- “Not yet.” Christina replied, “but if we will, then we’ll let you know.”
Vince and Christina left the house and headed for that electronics shop. They entered it and already a rude remark came from Cid:
- “The unfortunate duo is back for more fighting.”
- “No, we don’t want to fight.” Vince said.
- “What do you want then?”
- “Well, we wanted to ask you if you knew something about the accident.” Vince began.
- “What accident. I know of no accident.”
- “The one that happened nearly 9 months ago.” Christina reminded him as if he truly did forget.
- “Nope, sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
- “We want to hear all about it.” Vince continued.
- “I told you, you’re wasting your time. Go and bother someone else.”
- “Are you telling the truth?” Vince asked.
- “Yes I am.”
- “Am I?”
- “No.”
- “Wrong. So you’re not telling the truth.”
- “I am confused.”
- “Now you’re speaking the truth.”
Vince played a little game with Cid’s mind and it seemed to have worked.
- “I am not speaking the truth.” Cid negated.
- “There you go again. You just spoke the truth.”
- “Ahhh what do you want?”
- “The truth.”
- “Fine, if you want some truth then go and speak to the chief of police. He might be of help.”
- “Thank you.” Vince thanked the shopkeeper.
Him and Christina then turned around and proceeded to exit the shop. Cid was still very confused. He couldn’t understand what kind of manipulative trick Vince just played on him, but at least it didn’t give him a panic attack, even though he apparently spoke some truth during this conversation. Cid liked it.
- “That was amazing!” Christina congratulated Vince.
- “Thank you. But I am sure this won’t work on everyone. I just know that Cid is a bit of an absent-minded person judging from his fight with you yesterday, so I used a simple technique to confuse him. You see mind may have the information, but how it shares with it depends on whether it chooses to be open with it or not. Lying is a sign of a closed mind. I just simply broke into it and snatched a small portion of its information.”
- “It was genius I must say, and I am not lying.” Christina told him.
