Chapter 1 - Vincent Tyler

This story begins on a very normal day without much going on. Vince Tyler is a 33-year old successful and very intelligent scientist, working in space and time research as well as designing possible devices that can serve many useful purposes. As a scientist he is very careful and extremely thoughtful. He always thinks, whether he is busy or relaxing. He is slightly autistic, but he always tried to make sure that his autism didn’t get on a way of his career as well as social life.
He had a girlfriend once, when he was 20. They suited each other very well. But when he finished university and started his intense job at the age of 22, he had to move to a different city and his work hours were very long. She was still in the university and so couldn’t move in with him. Due to such conflict of priorities as well as not being able to withstand a long distance relationship they had to break up. Vince always understood that, but he always missed his girl. She used to make him so happy. He still to this day keeps a picture of her in his room at home and they talk to each other via email from time to time, but they are nothing more than just friends now.
At the age of 26 Vince underwent a very horrible lab accident, when one of the machines that he worked on backfired and blew up. He ended up spending 8 months in a hospital, where first 3 weeks of that were in a coma. It was a miracle that he lived since the explosion caused a severe concussion to his head and if not for one of his co-workers then he wouldn’t have been delivered to hospital in time. He still has burn marks in some areas of his body to this day, but as far as he is concerned that accident is in the past. The only thing about it that changed him is his perception of life. He became very righteous and spiritual and values every good thing that happens to him.
For the last 3 years he and his team tried to create some machine that will create a small wormhole, perhaps establishing a faint link with a parallel universe. If they are on the right track then future research can be made to improve the current idea and in the distant future this then would be used as a basis of a new transporting system as well as unification of several worlds into one.
They are nearly on a breakthrough now and could possibly win a Nobel Prize if the result they’re willing to achieve comes true.
So the morning of this very normal day was beautiful and Vince got up on time, ready to go to work, feeling very enthusiastic. The radio played his favourite song on and he knew it was gonna be his day, not knowing that another accident is awaiting him.
